10 Indicators That You May Be a Jerk & Why 47 Is
Let's be honest, nobody wants to be labeled a jerk. However, as seen in our current administration, some intend to be jerks. Sometimes, the signs aren't as apparent to the public as yelling at a server or cutting people off in traffic. Being a jerk can manifest in subtle behaviors that impact those around you, often without you even realizing it. If you've ever wondered whether your attitude or actions might be coming across as insensitive to others, it's worth taking a closer look.
Here are 10 indicators you need to check before others do it for you. These behaviors harm your relationships and reflect poorly on your character. It's time to make a change.
But these ten also highlight our issues with 47 and all his minions in today's administration. They are decidedly JERKS.
1. You Always Have to Be Right
If you constantly correct others, refuse to admit when you're wrong, or need to have the last word, it may be a sign that you're more focused on winning than on understanding.
As seen in 47, Vance, and Musk today, they dictate that they are the only right ones, and some people believe them even when evidence indicates they are flat wrong. When your management style is chaos intended to disrupt, debilitate, and deconstruct so you can rebuild whatever it is in your image, that is idiotic and illegal.
2. You constantly interrupt people.
Cutting people off mid-sentence, even if you think you're being helpful or enthusiastic, is a subtle way of saying your voice matters more than theirs. We see this in every new briefing from the current administration, as well as in interviews and his posts on Truth Social. They will interrupt for any reason they choose, even when it is rude and improper.
3. You Rarely Say "Thank You" or "Sorry"
Basic manners go a long way. You might be giving off serious jerk energy if you're stingy with gratitude or too proud to apologize.
Manners are not part of the current administration's vocabulary because they would imply they are wrong. As seen with Signal Gate, it's easier to lie about it than to admit they were wrong.
When one of your heroes is Andrew Jackson, I'm not sure that's a stellar endorsement. If you study his life, you will find that he was a jerk during and after his time in office. Check out Jackson's life here.
4. You Make Everything About You
Steering every conversation back to your own experiences or problems shows a lack of empathy and interest in others. I don't even have to provide any examples because they are so evident every day that you must be loyal to the point of being blind.
5. You Hold Grudges Over Minor Things
If you can't let go of small slights or spend energy keeping score, it can make you seem petty and challenging to be around.
How often have we heard the terms' restitution' and 'revenge' from 47's cronies?
How many Executive Orders have been issued in response to flagrantly reprisal attacks on firms, departments, and others that 47 deems have irritated him?
6. You Mock or Belittle Others
Sarcasm and teasing can easily cross the line into cruelty. If people often seem uncomfortable with your humor, that's a red flag.
I would love to see 47's limited name-calling vocabulary. He is the king of trash talk, and that is all he is capable of.
7. You Think Rules Don't Apply to You
Constantly finding ways to bend or break the rules — whether it's parking in a handicap spot or ignoring deadlines — can signal a sense of entitlement.
The current administration is calling the many parts of the American Culture entitled, including seniors and the military, yet they are the ones who are entitled. Billionaires and millionaires feel they are entitled to special treatment at our expense.
8. You Expect Special Treatment
Whether it's cutting in line or demanding favors without reciprocation, expecting others to cater to you isn't a good look.
More than 50% of Congress members are millionaires who have no clue how the rest of us struggle daily, yet they claim to legislate for ordinary people. They have said this for so long that they believe it while they are sucking up benefits paid by our taxes without even saying thank you.
9. You Can't Handle Criticism
It may be time for introspection if your immediate response to feedback is defensiveness, aggression, or shifting the blame.
None of the current administration can tolerate any criticism. They are almost like balloons with fragile skin that, when popped, spew garbage everywhere.
10. People Avoid You or Seem Tense Around You
If you notice others seem to avoid conversations, exit quickly when you join, or generally act on edge, take it as a hint — your behavior might be causing discomfort.
You also tend to hide from those you serve, as current Republicans are experiencing with town halls.
Conclusion
Everyone has off-days, but it might be worth self-reflection if several of these indicators hit a little too close to home. Being self-aware doesn't make you weak — it makes you someone others want to be around. And that's the opposite of being a jerk.
However, for the current administration, there is no simple way for them to change. They have become so full of themselves, much at our expense and some of it illegal, that they feel untouchable. Time for this to change.
Democrats, Libertarians, the Green Party, and every other political party need to come together with a singular focus and front so we can restore American Pride instead of destroying it. When Canada severed diplomatic and economic ties with the US after more than 150 years of equality, it was time for a change.
